Mother's Day 2021 is near. Very near, in fact. It's Sunday 9th. When I used to live in the same town as mom (and in her house :)), I liked to take her to our favorite French restaurant for brunch (Cafe Paris for those Hamburgers reading). Now that she is far away, I'm sending her a gift. I've ordered flowers before, but now it's time for something more creative. Here are some great finds for the smart, pretty, cultured moms, the best moms, our moms!

1) food or champagne
instead of flowers, which are great too... But if you mom is a gourmande, she might be even happier about one of these baskets or the Veuve. Great last minute idea, too.
what art does your mom like? Mine likes many European masters from the 19th century, particularly impressionists like Renoir. And all the flower paintings. Now is also a great opportunity to gift books about female artists! Taschen books are exceptionally well made, not only great as decorative objects, but more so for their amazing content.
I just discovered these gorgeous works by Spanish artist Marina del Pozo (named like my mom! coincidence?), all featuring the Madonna and child. While the original paintings might be a little pricey (though $1.000-1.500 for good art is a steal), she offers prints for around $60. You can ship to your mom's house directly, framed.
is your mom a "thank you note" person? How pretty are these designs by my dear friend KJ? You can pick her favorite color, a lovely design or even her initial.

5) candles
I've never heard of a mom that didn't want or like scented candles. If you ever did, please let me know! I think rose, fig or jasmine are great scents for the spring/summer season.
Lastly, there are things our moms don't just buy for themselves but secretly need, like a silk pillow case (I never owned one over $30 and they hold up well), nice wine glasses (these ones are a staple in our household, beautiful and dishwasher safe!) or a new vase...
PPS: I'm a mom too and wouldn't mind receiving something from this list, dad! 😇😁
Talk to you soon,
J.
